GREEN OR GURU? Almost both. Any fish design that sits up on a wave and essentially glides is a good choice for a beginner, but because the Mod Fish is a twinny and fairly shortboard-esque in template, it would be better to first hop on a Piranha or a Flying Disc.

CONFIDENCE BOOST: And you thought knee high was unridable until you stroked into a one foot beauty, tucked into a head dipper then came out and cruised into a roundhouse. East Coast in the summer? No problem.
