SPECS: Central thickness and width dimensions that still relate, somewhat, to your regular shortboard, but thicker at the very least. Pulled in nose and tail with a moderate rocker increase running from nose to tail. Light mid-vee with a mild double concave is a stable, proven bottom.

WAVE POTENTIAL: It’s not just big, it’s steep, fast and throwing. This one can stay in the garage until the sounds of incoming swell wake you up at night. Think open-ocean type surf exceeding double and around triple overhead.

REALITY CHECK: There are few places accommodating enough for the Semi-Gun. Although the name “Todos” comes to mind.
