BIO: Designed to pick up where the Traveler starts to feel sketchy. The NOU wants to get you into the bigger stuff easier, pick off the tube clean and still surf like it’s chest high and rippable.

SPECS: Pulled in and thinned out nose and tail with a beefier center width and thickness close to your shortboard. Increased rocker with a light single-to-double concave to mild vee in the tail. Can also be single concave or a light mid-vee with a double concave. Ride 3-6” longer than your standard shortboard.

WAVE POTENTIAL: A chunky, second-guesser type day—double-to-triple overhead.

REALITY CHECK: Solid Black’s and even Pipe. Beach or reef, doesn’t matter—as long as it’s getting heavy.

GREEN OR GURU? Guru. Unless you are an experienced small wave surfer and beginning larger wave surfer, it is advised you sit this session out. We know all those guys out there on their NOU’s make it look easy, but they’ve swallowed a lot of saltwater to get to that point.
